As a gosei (fifth generation Japanese American), I am interested in preserving Japanese American culture for younger generations. I am working on this personal community service project to support Japanese American youth cultural programs, or gakkos, in California. The goal of my project is to connect gakkos across California and allow them to share ideas and resources with one another and to help support programs. Another goal is to give families a place where they can find a gakko in their area, as well as Japanese American craft project ideas and resources.
